Contemporary Chinese was the first thing that came to my mind when I first saw the collection. Red formulas, black tassels and glossy black packaging gave the collection a look that was so aesthetically bold yet mysterious. I did a little research on this, because I needed to know who this Min Liu was before diving into the collection.
Liu is a Taiwanese motion graphics designer and animator based in New York. She is well known for using strong colours and drawing inspiration from traditions and culture, which explains the look of the collection. The collaboration is about self-expression between fashion and beauty and captures the traditional Chinese elements of “ying” and “yang”. Trust me when I say that you will be able to express a bold and strong look using the few colours featured in this collection. The lipstick in has a slightly matte finish with a mild, warm undertone. According to the packaging, it is said to have a pigmented formula that parts your lips with subtle to dramatic colour.
I really think it does what it says! I was pretty impressed with the red tint it left on my lips after having a meal. I love the colour even better with the collection’s on. It has a sheer finish, giving your lips a fuller, plumped look. If Dynasty Red is too bold for you, you can always use the lipglass alone for a natural red tint.

Next up, the cream colour base and eye shadow duo. The is my favourite product from the entire collection. I see myself bringing it around for. The cream has a sheer finish, so you can use it as an eyeshadow base, blusher or lip tint.
My favourite way to use it is to first use it as a base, then blend it with the in pink and silver. What you get is a red eye shadow look with touch of silver on the lids. If you’re really aiming for drama, simply build the colour with the red part of the cream colour base. I do think that the Eye Shadow Duo alone is rather incomplete and would perhaps fare better on fair to medium skin tones, or when paired with a darker base. Min’s signature and favourite product from the collection is the wave-embossed.
The powder gives off a velvet finish and leaves a pearly glow on your skin. It also doubles as a blush or highlighter.
